Fountain Hills

A self-contained small town in the hills east of Scottsdale, with big mountain views and a slower pace.

Our take

Fountain Hills is farther out, with a slower pace than most of the Valley and big mountain views. It's a self-contained small town: if you move here, you'll want to spend your time here.

Because it's built into the hills, single-level homes are rare, and most homes have stairs. Many were built in the 1970s and 1980s, and plenty haven't been updated. Newer homes are in Eagle Mountain, and new homes on acreage are being built. Downtown has condos.

The town's famous fountain is the centerpiece, visible from almost anywhere.
